Uldis Paul Main (Putens), 82, of Lincoln, NE, passed away May 29, 2026. He was born on November 16, 1943 in Cesis, Latvia to Alfred and Bonita (Killer) Putens.
Paul and his parents left Latvia and traveled to Germany when he was a young boy. They were in a “DP”, Displacement Persons Camp, while waiting immigration and resettlement to the United States. Paul and his parents settled in Lincoln, NE and received their certificates of citizenship on August 6, 1956.
He graduated from Lincoln High and attended the University of Nebraska Lincoln studying Business Administration before joining the US Marine Corps. He was stationed in 29 Palms, California before going to serve in Vietnam. Paul received the Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and US Marine Corps Rifle Expert Badge-M-14.
After serving, he returned to Lincoln and worked for Latsch’s on the sales floor and delivering office supplies to customers. He also worked as an office manager for the Nebraska State Fair, as well as, owned and operated his gift shop at the Nebraska State Fair.
Above all, Paul was devoted to his wife, Sheila Main, with whom he shared almost 25 years of marriage. He enjoyed taking care of and spending time with his loyal puppy dog, Junior, for 10 years. He also enjoyed spending time with his family.
Paul is survived by his wife, Sheila, of Lincoln, NE; daughter, Loni (Phil) Rabstejnek, of Wymore, NE; 3 sons, Erik Putens, Nathan Putens, both of Lincoln, NE and Mathieu Putens, of Austin, TX; along with four grandchildren, Katie Rabstejnek (23), Rylie Rabstejnek (13), Lucas Rabstejnek (12) and Sadie Rabstenjnek (9).
Preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Bonita.
