Michael Carl Schidler, 74, passed away peacefully on July 8, 2024, surrounded by family as he went to be with the love of his life, Kathy. Michael was born in Lincoln, Nebraska, to Rudolph and Verneda Schidler. He graduated from Lincoln Northeast High School in 1968. After graduation, Michael married Kathy Eldenborg on August 22, 1969, and together they had three children: Cory, Stacy, and Sean.
Shortly after their marriage, Michael joined the Nebraska National Guard, where he served and retired after over 20 years. He also worked for the US Postal Service for 35 years before retiring. Michael was known for his hard work and devotion to his family. He cherished traveling to Estes Park and Arizona with Kathy and enjoyed many outdoor activities, including golfing, fishing, hunting, and bowling. He especially loved watching his grandson play baseball. Michael took great joy in spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Michael is survived by his three children: son Cory (Kelli) Schidler of Scottsdale, Arizona; daughter Stacy (Troy) Kellerman of Lincoln, Nebraska; and son Sean Schidler and significant other Jamie Monfelt of Beatrice, Nebraska. He is also survived by his sister, Linda (Kenny) Benton of Lincoln, Nebraska, and his seven grandchildren: Ryann and Peyton Schidler, Kaitlyn Bruner and significant other Rocky Collier, Madison (Michael) Steelman, Kandon Kellerman, Kaleb Dayhuff, and Taison Schidler; and his great-grandchildren: MaKai, Aubri, Deacon, Zaria Collier, Bryson, Scarlett, and Colt Steelman. A host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Verneda Schidler; his wife, Kathy Schidler; his in-laws, Merle and Mariam Eldenborg; sisters-in-law Nancy Olesen and Sue Hafermann; his grandson Logan Kellerman; and his cousin Charles “Chuck” Bauer.
The celebration of life for Kathy and Michael will be held at a later date.
Michael’s legacy of love, dedication, and hard work will forever be remembered by his family and friends. May he rest in peace, reunited with his beloved Kathy.

Sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. Went to school with Mike and Kathy. Played fast pitch softball against him and worked with him at the Postal Service, both here in Lincoln and while he was PM in Diller. He was a terrific employee and representative of the Postal Service. Mike and his family are in my thoughts and prayers
