emNorthrup- Melvin E. was born to Eldon Freemont and Stella Genelia (Pinney) Northrup in Weld Co., Colo. May 12, 1934, and died at Bryan West in Lincoln Nebraska July 7 at 7:20am. emHe studied at Campion Academy and Walla Walla College where he married Norma Short. He graduated from WWC with a bachelors degree and later with a masters degree. He worked with the Seventh-day Adventist Church for forty years prior to retirement and had served as teacher and administrator in the Adventist school system, as well as pastor and conference administrator. He and Norma served with their children in Brazil 1960-1968. His ministry during that time required walking significant distances and riding animals, plus using canoes or launches to do pioneer work along jungle trails and on tributaries of the Amazon River emPastor Northrup isceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Stellasisters Marla (Duane), Mildred (Joe) Akins, and Loretta (Dallas) Crossand daughter Cynthia Cindy Storti. Survivors include his wifehis son, Melvin Northrup Jr., wife Ni, and their two children, Melvin III and Amy, all of Lincoln.emA visitation will be held Monday, July 11 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Metcalf Funeral Home, 245 N 27 Street, Lincoln.emA graveside service will take place Tuesday, July 12 at 10:00 a.m. at College View Cemetery in Lincoln.emMemorials to the family for future designation
