Mary Quarells was the beloved matriarch, who graced this world for 93 years. She was born in Pittsburgh, PA, on April 29, 1933, to Henrietta and Joseph Myers. She grew up as the cherished only sister among four brothers: Robert, Donald, Marvin, and her twin, William.
Her life was defined by the profound depth of her love and the expansive nature of her heart. She was a mother in every sense of the word—raising five children of her own, embracing four stepchildren as her own, and providing a loving and stable home for many foster children. Her capacity to nurture knew no bounds, and she leaves behind a legacy of care that lives on in the many lives she touched. She navigated the seasons of her long and full life with resilience, grace, and an unwavering spirit.
She is survived by her children: Yvette Myrick, Melodie (Shelley) Mayfield, Linda George, and Mark Lawson; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by William Cortez Williams, Lena (Renee’) Quarells and one great grandson angel, Derek Klotz.
Though she is no longer with us, her spirit remains a guiding light to all who were blessed to call her mother, sister, and friend.
