Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day.  Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.

 Obituary Post Date:

Marcilyn J, “Marcy” Marsden was born on November 11, 1939, to Lynn C. Cully and Merle V. (Littrell) Cully in Fairbury, Nebraska. She graduated with the Fairbury High Class of 1958. She worked at the Hested Store during high school and one year at Fairbury Junior College.
In 1960 she moved to Lincoln and attended Lincoln School of Commerce. In October of 1960, she was introduced to Lyle Marsden, who was attending UNL. Lyle’s roommate’s sister, who lived where Marcy lived, arranged for a group of girls to go eat with a group of guys from the guys’ boarding house. Conversations struck up, and the next weekend Marcy and Lyle went on a double date with one of his roommates. Lots of walking dates and movies followed (No car). By May of 1961, they were engaged. They were married on August 5, 1962.
After a very brief Honeymoon, with no paycheck for several weeks, they went to Lyle’s parents, borrowed a few pieces of furniture and the pickup, and moved into a three-room upstairs apartment in Aurora, NE. They had a card table and 2 folding chairs for a dinette. When thesident of the Aurora Education Association came to welcome them, they moved one of the folding chairs into the living room where the other two chairs were with the TV, so they could all sit down. Soon Marcy had found a job as a secretary at the Hamilton County Welfare Office. With that and a teacher’s salary, money was scarce, but they were fun times, and they managed to buy a piece of furniture every few months.
In 1965 they moved to Scottsbluff, where Lyle taught English in the Gering Senior High School, and Marcy transferred to the Scotts Bluff County Welfare Office. In July 1970, Lyle was hired as a State Farm Claim Rep. in Fremont, NE. Marcy became a housewife and enjoyed meeting other young couples in the Fremont Newcomers club.
In 1973 a corporate decision was made to close the Fremont claim office. So off Lyle and Marcy went to Lincoln, where Lyle became an office Underwriter at the West Central Regional Office, and Marcy began her longest career as Office Manager of the Nebraska Society of CPAs from February 1, 1974, until she retired on December 31, 2003.
During their marriage, they attended five Christian Churches (Disciples of Christ) and have been active members of SouthPointe Christian Church since the fall of 2003. They have held several positions in local Christian Churches and Statewide. Marcy particularly enjoyed decorating churches for special holidays, events, and seasons for many years. She loved decorating.
