Those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us every day.  Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear.

 Obituary Post Date:

Lloyd Steven “Steve” Brown, 72, of Lincoln, passed away on Monday, March 24, 2025 at his home with family at his side.

Steve was born March 17, 1953 in Tucson, Arizona. He was a son to the late Paul Lloyd and Barbara June (Baron) Brown.  He grew up living in several locations including Missouri, Minnesota, Michigan, Utah, and California.

Steve came to Lincoln in 1969 and has called it home ever since then. However, he always remembered his strong ties to his mother’s side of the family and his brother of teen years, Earl Whitehead in Joplin, Missouri.
He met his wife Kim Smith in 1970 and they were married in June of 1974, making it to their 50th Anniversary. From this union they had 3 children, Misty Dawn, Brandon Lloyd and John-Micheal Steven.

Steve earned his GED and Diploma for Heavy Equipment Operator while he was in the Job Corp in Helena, Montana. He worked in construction for many years building bridges (27TH street), treatment plants, roads and remodeling houses. He was a car sales man for Misles, and was an appliance and Hvac repairman at Appliance Doctor for 10 years. He was good with his hands.
He also attended Southeast Community College and graduated with his Associate of Applied Science degree in Electronics Technology and Computer Electronics Specialization.

Starting in his teen years, he became an avid bowler, competing in State and National torments. He even bowled on TV for the show Bowling at Rosebowl Lanes in Omaha. He also bowled a 300 game in league play. Having to stop bowling when he hurt his hand he turned back to playing pool as he did as a teen. He and Kim met at the Havelock Golden Que playing pool. His nickname then was “Sharkey “. Through the years, he was a member of the VVS, NPLA, and LPPA leagues being one of the original board members and Secretary Treasure of LPPA for a number of years. He got his family to enjoy playing pool in the Father -Son league at Madsen’s. Kim joined him in the Coed and regular league play. They enjoyed playing in tournaments and traveling with their teams. He made great friends that he called brothers, Reed Lapage, Steve Abernathy, John McCave, Mike Eley and Joe Brandon. He had great times and met great friends through pool.
Steve was very kind hearted, if he could help someone he would and was quick to lend a hand if he could fix something. He was very welcoming, opening their home to family and friends to live with them if they needed somewhere to stay or a place to hang out. Even their kids friends would call Steve and Kim’s house home, one time or another calling Steve Pop’s and Kim Ma. He was also opinionated he would say, and he wasn’t afraid to voice it. So if you asked him he’d tell you what he thought. He was the kind of man who would own up to when he was wrong and face the consequences.  He always tried to do the best he could at being a Husband, Father, Brother, Son, Uncle and Friend. Steve will be greatly missed but not forgotten and forever loved.

He is survived by his wife, Kim; daughter, Misty Dawn Brown; sister, Debbi King, of Minneapolis, MN; brother and Sister-in-law, Mark and Jackie Smith;  Sisters-in-law, Cheryl Dittmer, of Lincoln, Florence Dahlstrom, of North Manchester, IN,  Pat Wash, of Richland, NC; along with numerous nieces and nephews that he felt like were his extended daughters and sons; great nieces and nephews; great great nieces and nephews; as well as, friends he thought of as brothers and sisters; his beloved furbabies, Mister, Astro, and Hershey; plus the whole families Furbabies that he spent time with.
