Kristyn Leigh Bennett died peacefully at her home in Lincoln, NE on August 5, 2021 at the age of 36. She is proceeded in death by her grandmother, Louise Hartley, who passed away a few weeks ago. Kristyn was born July 15, 1985 in Richmond, VA. She was an active member of Westminstersbyterian Church in Lincoln, NE. She was a beautiful, intelligent young woman with an infectious smile. She dreamed of being a mother and having a large family, a goal she certainly accomplished by having 5 beautiful children. Kristyn made mistakes, but her short life cannot be defined by them. Through all the hardships that she endured, she never lost her passion for helping others. She was a foster parent, exchange student host, worked as a nursing assistant, and was a loyal friend to many. Although Kristyn will be deeply missed by those who knew her, the memories of the time spent with her will be cherished forever, and comfort can be found knowing that she is at peace.Surviving family members include her husband, Jon, her children, Kayleigh, Skyler, Tayler, Rylee, and Juleigha, brother, Kevin (Jessica) Newton and their children, Khaleesi, Zaniah, and Zhyier, mother, Dawn (Frank) Carta, father, Brian (Donna) Dougherty, of VA, step father, Stanley Newton, great grandmother, Margaret Sherman, along with uncles, aunts, and many cousins, all of which loved her very much. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the GoFundMe to help her children, as the family is struggling financially. Summer Skaggs is organizing the fundraiser.
