June E. Thomas, 83, of Lincoln, NE, June 4, 1939 – January 27, 2023.
June E. Thomas (Kilpatrick) passed away peacefully January 27, 2023 at the age of 83 years and 8 months. She was born in Clear Lake, SD to Andrew and Hilda (Rehder) Kilpatrick on June 4th 1939, and was one of 8 children. June raised her family as a single mom in Minneapolis, MN and worked as a bartender, singer and finally as a med aide for 27 years at Edina Care Center. She retired at 72 years old and moved to Lincoln in 2012 to eventually reside at the Cotner Center where she made many friends and was very active in socializing and loved nothing more than a good potluck.
June was very involved in Red Hats and was a member of the Bloomington Red Hats group; she went by the nickname Foxe. She loved to travel and took the trip of her dreams when she visited Ireland in 2007. She loved foxes so much that she collected them in all forms. June loved to walk and often put in miles daily just exploring and finding treasures everywhere she went. She loved her cat Molly and all animals in general. June was a lifelong Vikings fan and watched the games regardless if the team was winning or losing. She loved anything Irish, strong coffee and hanging out with her friends until she was no longer able to.
June is survived by her brothers, Leo and Richard (Linda) Kilpatrick; children, Charles Thomas, of Lincoln, Candy (Steve) Carter, of Lincoln, Pauline (Terry) Wermerskirchen, of Jordan, MN, and Blaise Benedict, of Minneapolis, MN; grandkids, Christine, Kelly, Dylan, Logan, Kelsey, Matthew and Jennifer; great grandkids, David, Thomas, Mathew, Michael, Tabitha, Alora, Ethan, Kailyn, Rilynn, Brennan, Parker, Madilynn, Cadence “Jayus” and Kaia, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; along with her many caregivers, especially Rosanna and her cat Molly.
She is preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Donald, Elda Mae, Maynard, Helen, and Avis, son, Kevin, and grandsons, Alan and Terence Jr.
June had requested that there be no funeral services.
Per her request, her remains will be scattered in South Dakota at a later date.
