Jeanette Darlene Smith, 96, of Lincoln, NE, passed away on July 11th, 2023 at Tabitha Health Care Services in Lincoln, NE. Jeanette was born June 7th, 1927 on a farm near Barneston, NE. She graduated from Otoe Consolidated High School, in Barneston, in 1945.
Jeanette married Harold R Smith, March 26th, 1947. They moved from Wymore, NE to Lincoln in December of 1962. She worked at Sears for many years before retiring in 1993. She enjoyed hosting Sunday dinners, baking desserts, and attending her grandchildren’s activities. She was proud of her Czech heritage and extensively researched her genealogy.
Survivors include her son Harold (Hal) Smith and his wife Donna Stading-Smith, of Lincoln; granddaughter, Jessica Duensing and her husband Jordan, of Bennet, NE; grandson, Conner Smith, of Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Joanne (Joey), Ellie, and Tucker Duensing; sister, Delores Holmes, of Oklahoma City, OK; Richard (Dick) Pribyl and wife Shirley, of Lincoln, NE; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, Elmer and Blanche (Svobada) Pribyl; daughter, Joanne K Smith; sisters, Lorraine Vokach and Glenadine Mencl; and brother, Leroy Pribyl.
A private family service will be held at Fairview Cemetery in Lincoln on Friday.
Memorials are suggested to the family’s choice to be designated at a later date.
