Gerald “Gerry” K. Belschner, 78, of Lincoln, NE December 4, 1944 – February 21, 2023.
The family and loved ones of Gerald K. Belschner “Gerry” 78, of Lincoln, Nebraska are saddened to announce his passing on February 21, 2023, after an acute battle with metastatic lung cancer. He did so with bravery and died in peace on his own terms with his family around him.
Gerry was born on December 4, 1944, in Lincoln, Nebraska and graduated from Lincoln Southeast in 1962 and went on to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He started his career with the United States Post Office, but in 1977, he moved his family to Kearney, where he started his own business, Custom Screen Printing and The Shirt Shack. He owned and operated this successful business for 28 years before selling it and moving to Las Vegas to work at Planet Hollywood as a Pit Manager. After ten years in Las Vegas, Gerry retired and moved back to Lincoln to be closer to his family and friends.
Gerry was a man of many interests and hobbies, including bowling, golfing, country dancing, volunteering as a Canteen Host at the Community Blood Bank, playing bingo at Cornhusker Bingo, and being an avid Nebraska Women’s Volleyball fan. He enjoyed Lincoln history and was interested in learning more about it, taking a class with his brother and classmates. Gerry also served on the Southeast High School reunion committee.
Gerry adored his two cats, Alex and Simon. He enjoyed fixing things and building projects, such as a “catio” for his daughter. Gerry loved spending time with family and friends over breakfast, donuts, and coffee, and he had a sweet tooth for cookies and chocolate desserts. Throughout his life, he was always there for his loved ones.
He is survived by his by his daughters, Shanna Ohrt (Monte) Ohrt and Brandi L. Hatch, his grandchildren Elizabeth and Ethan Ohrt, his brother John F. (Diane K.) Belschner, and his nieces Lori McGrath (Neal) McGrath and Shari (Jason) Theer.
He is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth H. and H. Ruth Belschner.

A Celebration of Life will be held in honor of Gerry 9:30 am-11:30 am on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, at The Urban Farmhouse Room, 3900 Yankee Hill Road Suite 127 Lincoln, NE 68516.
