Davey Leonard Widders died peacefully in his sleep February 28th, 2025. Dave was born on July 21, 1935 in Springfield, Missouri where he was raised.
There he graduated from Southwest Missouri State College in the early 1960’s. His career as a Savings and Loan officer began with a transfer to Lincoln, Nebraska with his former wife and children Daniel and Mary. His banking colleagues enjoyed his quick wit and annual holiday prose of gentle humor centered around work events.
Dave had a great love of music, and family and friends were treated to his fun renditions of ragtime that he played on his beautiful old Weber piano. He enjoyed many modes of music, to include country and popular music on vinyl records.
Dave leaves behind his loving children, Daniel Ray Widders and Mary Kathryn Gabel. Grandchildren are Kyle Thomas Stewart and wife Brittany Marie, and David Bruce Widders. Great-grandchildren are Greyson, Gavin, and Isabella Stewart.
Preceded him in death are his parents, Leonard Vernal Widders and Mary Francis Holland, his sister Margy Sue Burton, and his beloved long time companion, Joan Mongar.
Dave is loved and will be missed. Private celebration of life will be held in July.
