Burdette E. ldquo BudrdquoSandin, 93, of Lincoln, NE, began and ended his life at home.He died April 12, 2021.The first child of Rudolf and Ida (Ferris) Sandin, his father delivered him on the family farm near Swede Home and Stromsburg in Polk County on October 21, 1927.A graduate of Stromsburg High School, he joined the Navy for service during WWII, and through the highly competitive V-5 program was sent to college at Swarthmore University in Pennsylvania before pilot training.The war ended before he graduated.He was discharged and continued his education at Luther and Midland Colleges in Nebraska.He later completed gunsmith training in Denver, CO and with a friend held a federal firearms license for many years. He began a lifetimersquo s career with the State of Nebraska in 1954 as a County Auditor, rising to Supervisor of County Auditors, to Supervisor of State Agency Audits, management in the Dept. of Revenue, and in the Secrsquo y of Statersquo s office.He was a lifetime friend of county officials throughout the state, and participated in retired county officialrsquo s events through 2019. He was an expert hunter and target shooter, shooting Distinguished more than once at Camp Perry, and he organized, coached, and participated on, the Nebraska Ntl. Guard Rifle Team.He greatly enjoyed following the Nebraska Womenrsquo s Rifle Team in later years.He was an avid golfer and wassident of the Holdrege Country Club.He was a Life Master Duplicate Bridge player, and played steadily until the pandemic. He married Anne Bergman in 1954. To this union 3 children were born. They made their home in Holdrege, moving to Lincoln in 1974. He is survived by his children, Alissa, Liana (David Burken) and Christopher (Julie), and 2 grandsons, all of Lincoln, a sister, Janice Ernst of Stromsburg, sister-in-law Arlis Wells of Holdrege, brother-in-law Richard Soshea of Seattle, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.He wasceded in death by his parents, wife Anne, son-in-law Pearle F.
