Ardyce B. Welch, 92, of Lincoln, passed away September 26, 2017. Born August 3, 1925 in Hastings, NE to John Adam and Anna Marie Louise (Kemper) Batt. Ardyce was a microbiologist for 42 years retiring in 1989 from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Ardyce was a faithful member of St. David’s Episcopal Church for the past decade, a member of the American Society for Biology, Tissue Culture Association, Sigma Xi, and Sigma Delta Episilon (graduate women in science). She is survived by her niece, nephew and cousins. Preceded in death by her husband, John Carroll Welch.

Terry Valenta

Terry Allen Valenta, 53, of Ashland, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on September 26, 2017. He was born on December 23, 1963 to Fred and Ruby Valenta. He graduated from Southeast High school in 1982, and joined the Air National Guard after graduation and served our country for 26 years. In 1997 he was employed by Voss Lighting where he had just celebrated his 20th year with the company. He also often worked alongside his dad cooking at Fred and Ruby’s at Parkway Lanes. Terry married Carissa Dueck on May 2, 1998 in Lincoln. They moved to Grand Rapids, MI shortly after where they lived and served together for 10 years before moving to Ashland, NE. Terry and Carissa were blessed with four children: Ainsley, Deacon, Given and Sullivan. Terry enjoyed watching cooking shows, grocery shopping, listening to sermons and hymns whenever he could. He especially loved spending time with his family and he was an amazing caregiver to Carissa and the kids. One of his favorite hymn was One Day.
