Daniel Robert Davis, Jr. hung up his cellphone on January 20, 2026. D.J. loved to talk on the phone and it didn’t matter if you liked to or what time of day or night it was or if you had a job or not, he wanted you to make time for his phone call.
D.J. was labeled a “miracle”child by the doctors when he was born November 2, 1990, as his parents were told by two different specialists that mom wouldn’t be able to have children. A miracle he was as he was given nine lives or more by God. Between broken bones, surgeries, numerous car accidents, jail, and an extensive hospital stay in California, where we were told he wouldn’t make it, he definitely proved that wrong over and over again.
He graduated from McCool Junction High School in 2009 with a degree in sneaking out of class to go to the restroom and never coming back. He played all three sports in high school in which he was very proud of getting the All-Sport award all four years. He went on to Southeast Community College in Lincoln and majored ironically in Criminal Justice.
He was an avid sports fan and his favorite teams were the Denver Broncos, Duke basketball and of course the Huskers. If you knew D.J., you knew his love for Jordan shoes in which he left many to his mother to admire.
Left to cherish the good times are his parents, Deb Davis of York, Daniel Davis of Doniphan, and Stepmother Anita Beazley of Cairo, plus his sister, Taylor of York. Grandparents Robert and Peg Davis of Lincoln and Marietta Beazley of Grand Island. Along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews..
Preceded in death by grandparents Kenneth and Barbara Goldberg, Joy Beazley and his aunt Linda Achtemeier.
Celebration of life will be Sunday, February 1st from 3-5 p.m. at the McCool Junction Town Hall. 323 M Street, McCool Junction. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to support the family with unexpected funeral expenses in D.J.’s honor.
