Ima “Jean” Tipton, of Lincoln, passed away February 5, 2018. Born in Bayard, NE on December 4, 1928 to Ernest and Sylvia Kuhn. Jean worked managing retail stores in her early years. As a grandmother, she exceeded the best of expectations. Her hands were tiny, but always busy, and she delighted in sewing, gardening, and fixing things, all of which she did with great skill and heart. Jean was a huge Husker football fan, and the family will keep up her chant, “Go Big Red……dy!”
On Friday, January 12, 2018 Bercena Lilian Payge transitioned to be with the Lord. Bercena was born May 2, 1952 to the Albert and Mary Payge of Warrenton, King George County, Virginia. She achieved her education in Washington, DC. Her career was in the Mortgage section. She became a Day Care provider for many years for many children throughout the years where she was loved very much. She was baptized and belong to the Word of Faith Church in Riverdale, Maryland. She love to travel, going to the beach and spending time with family and friends.
Bercena is survived by her beloved children: Marquita Nicole Modupeore Popoola Aromire, Yaniya Wilkins-Payge and the late Donte D. Payge. Nine Grandchildren: Marquis Blunt, Anthony Simms, Princess Rashidat Oluwatosin Popoola Aromire, Prince Raheem Oluwatoyin Popoola Aromire, Zapporah Payge, Nyree Wilkins, Amirah Wilkins, Donte Payge, Jr. and Sanaa Payge. One Great Grandson: Elijah Seven Blunt. Sister: Alberta Payge – Thompson, Nephews: Nathan Thompson, Gerald Thompson, Carl Pollard and Shay Pollard. Nieces: Meltonia Pollard, Sequuie Pollard. Beloved Cousin: Betty Lightfoot. Beloved Son in laws: Prince Zainudeen Idowu Popoola Aromire and Late Mark Wilkins.

Dennis Carl Harding, 69, of Eagle, died November 22, 2017. Born October 4, 1948, in Carrington, North Dakota, the son of Carl and Lucille Harding. He married Tali Harding on March 24, 1995.
Survivors: wife, Tali Harding; children, Shawn Harding, Nichole (Tye) Pourier, Maryah Harding; siblings, Connie (Jim) Wehler, Becky (Rick) Richter, Rick (Denise) Harding; eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
Barbara Jean Payne, 75, of Chicago, passed away November 13, 2017. Born July 2, 1942 in Chicago, IL to Willie and Ollie Mae Walls. Homemaker/Candy factory worker. Barbara Jean moved to Lincoln two months ago from Chicago. She enjoyed going to the casinos, the 007 Tavern, and spending time with her best friend Mae Armstead. She was also a member of the Thunderbird Motorcycle Club.
Juan Castillo, 20, of Lincoln, passed away November 7, 2017 in Omaha, NE. He was born May 16, 1997 in Omaha.
Janice D. Strange passed away at the age of 84, October 24, 2017 at High Plains Alzheimer’s Memory Care Center in Lincoln. She was born in St. Francis, Kansas, to Hubert L. and Eunice M. (Shearer) Harrison in 1933. Janice graduated from Holdrege High School where she was a cheerleader and received a vocal scholarship to the University of Nebraska. While at UNL, she was Honorary Commandant, Editor of the Daily Nebraskan, and a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She worked as a marketing spokesperson and served as a children's show hostess for KOLN-KGIN TV in 1961-62. She was a former Chair of the Nebraska March of Dimes, and a member of P.E.O. Chapter FG.
After graduating from the University of Nebraska with a degree in English, she married Thomas P. Beal of Omaha. They had 5 children. She returned to the University of Nebraska and received her Master’s Degree in Education and began teaching at Robin Mickle Junior High School. She completed her coursework requirements towards her PHD., and taught at Lincoln Northeast High School until she retired.
Janice performed in several Gilbert and Sullivan musicals at the Lincoln Community Playhouse and sang in various choirs throughout the city.
She married David A. Strange, a native of Hays, Kansas, in 1975. They built their dream home in Estes Park, Colorado, and moved there in 2009. They spent time traveling and exploring the Colorado Rockies.
